Getting away from the horse or animal drawn vehicle seemed like a spectacular vision, yet mankind strove to do just that. Steam-powered seemed the closest, attainable invention since it was achievable for railroad purposes, and yet it was still not as practical as the inventors and investors had hoped. Battery driven motors were next in the motor vehicle invention evolution yet still was not solidified for various reasons. Finally, we arrive at the fuel-internal combustion engine driven vehicles that carried us from our A to B's and back.
While we could go through an exhaustive research about key vehicle inventions, noting where the vehicle began and where it is, this article will focus on the iconic vehicles throughout the 1900s. Equally, we could journey through many extensive libraries of vehicles from sub-compacts to luxury super cars, yet this article is a simple survey of one lone vehicle from each decade that are just as easily identifiable as being a signature vehicle in their respective eras.
These were the vehicles that stood out throughout the 20th century as innovative and embodiment of that century.
